Motion during an MRI results in blurry, non-diagnostic images

“Motion artifacts represent a frequent cause of MR image degradation, […] resulting in substantial costs to the radiology department.”

Estimated costs of motion in imaging

$115,000

in lost revenue per scanner, per annum

This cost estimate accounts only the cost of repeat scans due to motion artifacts. It does not account for other potential additional costs, for example, sedation costs for patients, particularly children, who may be unable to lie still for an entire MRI exam.

How does Prospective Motion Correction work?

With its high spatial and temporal resolution, the KinetiCor camera accurately tracks the position of the head in 6 degrees of freedom - x, y and z, translation and rotation - at the rate of 60 Hz (60 frames per second)
